Kyle Mohan enters his sixth season of drifting at the highest level as the leader of Nexen Tire's Formula Drift squad. His team, KMR, has spent another winter developing the team's Mazda RX-8 into a contender in Formula Drift, packing more power than ever from its Mazdatrix-built, two rotor, Mazda 13B engine. Mohan has been involved in drifting since it first hit these shores – first in an FB Mazda RX-7 at Drift Days and the RS*R Drift Festival, before teaming up JIC and Grenade to compete in Nissan S13s. Mohan then built his now-famous FC Mazda RX-7, which took him to several top-16s, a Final Four at the Streets of Long Beach, and an appearance at the Red Bull Drifting World Championships in 2008.
2010 was a successful year for Mohan in Formula Drift, as he carried his team's new partner, Nexen Tires, to second in qualifying at Formula Drift Las Vegas and third in qualifying at Formula Drift Sonoma. Mohan also earned a championship in the Redline Time Attack series, taking the Drift class championship in his team's Mazda RX-7 FC3S. During the day, Mohan is the head engine builder at Mazdatrix in Signal Hill, California. Customers from around the globe send engines to Mazdatrix, looking for the power and reliability that Mohan demonstrates from the rotary engines in his Mazdas. Mohan lives in Long Beach, California. In his downtime, he enjoys playing his guitar or working on his latest rotary-powered Mazda project.
